Looking Back @ 2006

 

another year gone..v r on the verge of a new year…

year 2006 was a remarkable year for me…

there were soo many things that i got n didnt get…but soo many  things i got where  more than i expected…yea..there were few draw backs too…

if i get in to detail it at least take 10 to 20 pgs…

mainly i became a MCP,MCTS(SQL Server)…

and 1 more exam i will be a MCSA..

next year is going to be a very challenging year for me..

A/L are coming up…exactly 140 days…

Windows Vista & Office 2007

finally after wasting lots of time thinking i installed Windows Vista Rc2 to my laptop..

fortunately it’s working…all the devices were detected..but my sound card didn’t working even thought it was detected there was no sound…

so i went to the RealTec web-site and downloaded the vista driver and now it works fine…

no aero for me…my vga doesn’t support it….except for that everything else works fine..

i installed Office 2007 as well…

most of my software are not compatible with Windows Vista…including Nero, Symantec..damn it..still i don’t have a virus guard..

i thought of installing OneCare…

everything is running nice and smoothly soo far..

New Version Of Windows Live Messenger

yesterday morning when i tried to login to my live messenger i got a popup saying that i have to update my messenger…

so i downloaded the new messenger and installed it…havn’t noticed anything different yet…it still says “Beta”

the new build is (8.1.0168)

Hard Disk Failed

oh great..what i wanted more than ever!!!! damn it

when i switched on my computer in the morning today i heard a “Tak Tak” noise coming out of my old hard disk…i guess da time is over…and when i tried to access data i got the same problem and it stopped responding…

anyway now im backing up all the data using Ghost..

hope i’ll be able to recover everything..it’s a Maxtor 80gb hard disk, 30gb full of DIVX movies + 20GB video tutorials :(…

im going to try low level formatting after this…it’s going to take hours!!!…

i was just about to boot from my Win2003svr and install Exchange Server to do some practices..i guess i’ll have to install Win2003Svr to a different partition or to my VMware machine…

seems like lots of extra work for me…

U3 Smart Data Traveler

with the VGA card i bought a 2gb Kingston pendrive..

day b4 i bought it i visited kingston.com to see what’s the highest capacity available and what new brands they have…

then i came across this U3 range..i never thought tht it’ll b available in Sri Lanka…lucky me it was there…

this is  damn good..u can install software to the pendrive and run them from it…but unfortunately u can only install u3 software(no pirated software yet)

i managed to get some cool free software…

foxit reader(pfd reader)

Challenger(encryption software)

pass2go(stores all ur passwords..it’s like a wallet manager)

ATI Radeon 9250-256mb DDR

recently i bought a new vga card…it was really cheap…i just needed something for my 4x motherboard…even thought it wont show max performance with 4x once i get a PCIE motherboard it’ll use max performance…

im happy tht my motherboard detected my vga..lol 

i installed da VGA card on Vista..bloody hell..it detects as a 64mb card.i wanted to try out Vista Aero..no drivers for the 9250 series yet but it works fine..tht’s all that matters..works smoothly on vista… i played carbon wit the new VGA on my Xp machine..it’s AWEOSM..

Lyceum International School will be broadcasting a radio station from the 11th of December up to the 16th of December…

Finally…we got holidays last Friday(8th December)…

this month is going to be, one hectic month for me…i have few exams coming up…

7th December i did 70-431 Implementation and maintenance of SQL 2005 exam and i got through it…i got some really cool computer based training kits

20th im hoping to do 70-291 exam..i don’t think i’ll be able to do it on tht day..hoping to reschedule..it’s bloody hard…i need to more time to prep…haven’t decided yet…i can reschedule b4 24hours..so im waiting till 22nd to make the decision..

hoping to do 70-284 on the 3rd of jan…i hav studied for it about one month back..but i lost in touch coz at that time i had my school exams and i couldn’t find time to the exam…since im studying for 291 now it’ll take some time to get ready for it…
